A spokesman for Business Watch Guarding stated “The ACS standard coupled with a recognised and product certificated ISO 9001 certification is the bench mark that the security industry and clients alike have been striving for.
The awarding and retention of both certifications is both demanding and time consuming but for a company wishing to provide service levels at the highest audited level is in our opinion a must have qualification. Tendering for security services of any recognised quality invariable demands the pre requisite of both ACS and ISO accreditation otherwise security companies are not entertained in the tendering process.
Business Watch has always embraced the regulation of the industry and in particular the Approved Contractor Scheme being the first recipient of the award in 2008 at the National Security Industry Awards. It is therefore incredulous in our opinion that a company would withdraw from the ACS scheme based on the poor performance of G4S at the Olympic games as being non compliant to ACS.
As the SIA have pointed out the supply of services to the games was between Locog and G4S and was not in the SIA remit. One tends to agree with the SIA that non compliance with the ACS requirement results in withdrawal of ACS status where a company no longer meets the requirements. Read into this what you will but to protest against the SIA ACS scheme on the failings on G4S is a nonsense. It does however limit a local companies choice of Approved Contractors in the Security Industry in the Shropshire area to one company Business Watch Guarding and we are not going to argue with that.”
