We’ve had the pleasure of working with the team at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for the past 18 months, and here, we learn from their Logistics and Facilities Manager Andy Southall, about the partnership…..

“We moved into our new Headquarters in Shifnal in July 2023, bringing together several former separate sites in one location.

We’d previously used the services of a security company for ad hoc event support, but with our new HQ spanning over 21 acres and housing the majority of our assets, we wanted the comfort and peace of mind of having a presence on site at all times.

The team of three Business Watch security guards arrive with us at 4.30pm each day when our office staff leave and stay on site undertaking key area patrols until 8.30am the following morning (when our staff arrive back). Over weekends and bank holidays, when our office teams are off, the guards are on site 24/7.

As well as providing us with the assurance that our buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, having the Business Watch Guarding team on site also means that any potential issues are identified and dealt with in a timely manner – and without any problems having to wait until the office staff return in the morning.

Not only does this mean that our team is saved the time and inconvenience of having to travel back to HQ to deal with any issues (for example, the breaking down of our heating system), but it also means that any required action is taken as soon as possible, and – most importantly – the safety of our staff is assured by not requiring them to come to site at any hour of the night.

In addition to the site patrols, the guards will often support us during their time on site with other tasks and will get stuck in with whatever needs doing – they really are an invaluable and much appreciated part of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity team.”

Meet the Team…

Introducing our Head of Finance, @Elaine Newbury:

With extensive expertise and a keen focus across the disciplines of management, finance and administration, Elaine Newbury brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her role as Head of Finance here at Business Watch Guarding. Elaine was initially appointed onto the team in 2017 to advance and streamline the finance department, offer fresh insight and perspective to the senior management team, and ensure the continued delivery of a premier service to customers. 

Elaine has been instrumental in implementing a strategic vision to continue accelerating business growth while adapting to the ever-changing economic climate. She is committed to collaborating with all of our partner companies to better protect the business community and raise awareness about the very real need for adequate security provisions. 

Elaine is also wholly committed to the team. Having recently completed Young People’s Mental Health training, she recognises that these transferable skills allow her to be mindful of the holistic wellbeing of the entire workforce, arming her with the tools and tactics to offer support or signpost to professionals, where needed. She’s also advocating for more women to be introduced into this (typically) male-dominated sector.

Living in Shropshire with her young son and miniature labradoodle, they love to explore the outdoors. Elaine also enjoys holidaying in Florida, and is already counting down the days until her next adventure.
